The premise is fairly simple, the online puzzle is color-coded, so you can see that when you’ve guessed correctly, a letter that is in the right position will turn green, whilst a letter that is part of the word but in the wrong position will turn yellow. If you’ve guessed a letter that isn’t part of the word at all, it’ll turn gray.

The Origins of ‘Wordle’
Originally, the brainteaser was created by software engineer Josh Wardle, who initially intended it to be played by him and his partner Palak Shah.
He first started working on it in 2013, but returned to it during the pandemic and perfected it.
Wordle was launched to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, in October 2021.
It was then sold to The New York Times for an undisclosed seven-figure sum in January 2022 and the puzzle moved over to the publication in February.

Wardle, the digital game’s creator, recommends you spend your first tries eliminating as much of the alphabet as possible.
We would suggest that your first attempt be a word with plenty of vowels, such as AUDIO, as well as avoiding less common letters such as X, W, Z, until you have a better understanding of what the word is.

The answer to Wordle #389 is “BLAND.” Merriam-Webster describes it as “smooth and soothing in manner or quality” and “lacking strong flavor”.
If you didn’t get this one, the good news is Wordle updates every day at 7 p.m. ET, at which point the next word will become available for players to try to solve.
