Essentially, you have to guess a five-letter word in six attempts, and this word refreshes daily, so you’ll always have a new challenge.
The puzzle is color-coded, so you can see that when you’ve guessed correctly, a letter that is in the right position will turn green, whilst a letter that is part of the word but in the wrong position will turn yellow. If you’ve guessed a letter that isn’t part of the word at all, it’ll turn gray.
The Origins of ‘Wordle’
Since being launched to the public, several similar games have emerged, including Quordle, Squabble and Herdle.
The digital game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle, who initially intended it to be played by him and his partner Palak Shah.
It was publicly launched in October 2021, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and quickly gained popularity.

The puzzle’s creator, Wardle, recommends you spend your first tries eliminating as much of the alphabet as possible.
We would suggest that your first attempt be a word with plenty of vowels, such as AUDIO, as well as avoiding less common letters such as X, W, Z, until you have a better understanding of what the word is.
