Wordle was created by Josh Wardle as a game for him and his wife, and he made it available to the public in October 2021 at which point it became a global phenomenon.
While the creator has admitted that he’s not much good at the game himself, over 45 million users sign in each and every day to try and solve the puzzle.
It has become so popular that it has also inspired a number of games, including the globe-trotting country guessing game Worldle, and the math-based Nerdle.
